The game was developed and published by independent developer Terrible Toybox. Judging by the reviews the designers have been wildly successful and Thimbleweed Park was the highest rated PC game in March 2017. The developers said that they liked the “charm, simplicity and innocence” of the original point-and-click adventure games and wanted to replicate that in a modern form. Inspiration for the design of the game came from such classics as Maniac Mansion from LucasArts. It raised around $600,000 from over 15,000 people, reaching their main goal and also a number of stretch goals such as full English voice acting. Though I think the white writing for creating the sentence (showing 'walk to' in both screenshots) is better in the old font, I dont think the thin new font for that part is quite as good.
